Well Shit.....

There I was all happily sewing away thinking that Grace was almost done, just the irritating bit of figuring out where I wanted my sleeves to be (you are told the number of stitches to pick up and knit but there's no indication on the sweater of where these should start or end) and this baby would be done and dusted and my WIP list could get a tiny bit shorter...

So, I pick it up to have a look at it and think, 'hmmm, that ain't right', so I put her over my head to see how she is fitting, and then pick up the pattern and compare and think 'hmmm, that neckline is one hell of a lot lower than mine', so I lay her out on the table and have another look and realise that something is dreadfully wrong....

I seem to have sewn the booby bits on the completely wrong sides which makes a 2 inch difference in the length of the front and makes the neckhole almost too small to go over my head and generally fucks up the whole sweater....

I had read somewhere in the past that assembling this sweater was the hardest bit, but I figured I'd be fine, it's only a few small pieces, I can seam as well as the next person... This is mock mohair people, it's also black, I can't see for the life of me where my very neatly sewn stitches are to pull them out, I can't find the end of the yarn to start unravelling the neckband because I very very neatly sewed it in and used it to darn the 2 front edges of the neckline together, I did a very very good seaming job on this sweater and now I'm going to have one hell of a lot of trouble undoing it all....

Damn..... Sigh....

Well, if the postman ever shows up today he should have my yarn for the OSW, so we might have a FO yet today, we'll see...

I swatched last night for another project from my stash and got gauge but managed to convince myself that I didn't really need to cast on for it just yet, if I wanted a stocking stitch project upstairs I should start the second sleeve of Ivy, so that's what I did instead and it felt good to get going with that project again even though I only got about 5 rows done. Thing is I stopped knitting Ivy so long ago I've no freaking idea which needles I was using as the smaller set so I guessed from the many sets in the knitting basket by process of elimination, hopefully it won't make too much difference to the cuff!

I have however printed off the pattern for Mariah, I am getting ready to baffle my brain with this pattern because I love love love this sweater and if I don't start soon I won't finish it before the winter! However I am saved for the moment by the fact that I only own 1 set of 4.5mm bamboo needles and Kiri is currently claiming those as her own. I have ordered another set from Handknitting.com who are amazing and have almost every imaginable size of bamboo needles for sale in dpns, straights and circulars in 3 lengths (I'm buying 2mm straights for a Philar project, the idea of bamboo needles that small is kind of scary!), I tend to order 4 or 5 sets of needles a time from them to make the shipping worthwhile (although $10 air mail from Canada to here isn't bad I guess, some UK places charge that much!), so when those needles arrive I will be able to get on with a few more projects, like I need that! lol

So, anyway, could be a while before you see Grace again, she's going into the drawer of half finished objects upstairs until I can get enough enthusiasm together to rip her apart and put her back together again....

See ya later Gracie.
