Sewing Sewing La La La

I have had some nice hours sewing this week, sometimes it can be a bit of a chore and you just slog along through the dull bits but the things I have made this week I've really enjoyed which is lovely and rewarding.

First up is a Pantdress from 1967

The pattern is Simplicity 7377 and the fabric is from Abakhan. This was great fun to sew, both the fabric and the pattern were really nice to work with. I am sure I will be using this pattern again, I'd like a couple of these in nice summer plain colours for next year. The pattern also has a sleeveless collarless version which I'd like to try as well.

Next up was another sundress with a tiny bit of retro feel but mega retro feel fabric (see I'm not quite done with summer yet Helen!).

I love this fabric, which came from a co-op, and have pulled it out several times to use but it never felt quite right with the pattern I was considering. This time it did, Simplicity 4116, and I even had a yard left over to make something else in the future which is a bonus! The dress is a little bit tight around the middle as I made the 18, but hopefully it will fit soon.

Finally, today I made up the second pair of Little One's 'summer' pjs. I made the first pair of these in March but they were too big for him so I left this pair in the basket to come back to. He has finally grown and due to the old washing machine breaking he ran out of pjs, wearing the last pair last night, so I whipped these up today from my standard Kwiksew 3126, I'll be sad when he grows out of this pattern, must find a replacement that fits age 4 upwards.

This fabric is from another co-op and the buttons are from my Great Aunt's button tin. The pattern is really easy to put together and now that I know he can wear these and still have use of his hands and feet I will get going on the winter pjs to get them out of the way, I have four lots of flannel out to use, 2 just to make bottoms with store bought t-shirts and the other 2 for full sets of pjs like these, I do love an old fashioned pair of pyjamas on a little boy. Should he need them I also have a pattern coming for knit pjs and plenty of knits in the stash, he was admiring all 'his' fabric today!

I also cut out a dressing gown/robe for myself from some really bright flannel that I will put together over the next few days, I only just got it onto 3 yards of fabric with a bit of effort! I also want to get going on my August Sew Retro project (a 40's housedress) plus the stacks of stuff that I have in waiting, there are 9 projects stacked up waiting to be made (not counting Little One's pjs and my Mothers bag for her Birthday next month) plus 2 retro dresses that I've got out for further consideration (it takes me a while to get the pattern/fabric match right sometimes). I want to get all of the things made up before I pull out anything else, that may be hard though as 2 of my lovely readers have been pattern shopping for me so I will have packages arriving in the next few weeks, must sew faster and not get distracted!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
