Very Domestic
I finished off my first apron today, I say first because I now have 3 apron patterns with two of them having several types that I'd like to make. So many aprons in fact that I have added coat hooks to my list of things to buy as I will be needing them in the kitchen to hang the aprons on!
I'm sure I've mentioned my clumsiness before, I'm constantly bruised somewhere and trip on everything available and throw things on the floor regularly. This extends to my cooking, DH is always startled by the mess I can make on the cooker top whilst making a meal and if I am going to cook anything that may stain I go and change out of any light coloured clothing I might be wearing. Hopefully an apron will save my clothes from me (although to do that totally I would have to wear it whilst eating as well...) and also add a bit of colour to my kitchen.
So, I supposed you'd like to see said item huh?

and back

I think this fabric is actually supposed to be mittens but it looked like oven gloves to me when I bought it so that's what I'm thinking of it as. I have enough left to make some pot holders, I guess with the fabric I should really be making oven gloves/mits but I don't find them easy to use so I will stick with potholders instead when I buy some heat resistant stuff, Helen said it was on sale at Abakhan and I need a small trip there soon anyway so hopefully it will still be cheap.
I even found a little oven glove button in my button box from a selection pack I bought many moons ago and will be using up until the day I die:

Not the greatest colour for the project but the greatest shape so I am happy! The pattern is Simplicity 4282 (thanks Raesha!) and as I said I will be making a few more from that pattern in the future, hopefully they all don't require 10 yards of bias binding though!
Coming next from the sewing room are items from these piles

There are 6 shirts/t-shirts on there, four dresses (including my Sew Retro project which will be sewn after the t-shirt I cut out this afternoon), a skirt, a pair of trousers and four maternity garments from my new Burda patterns. I feel like I'm making good progress reducing the stash, although the trips to Abakhan to replenish it don't really help that much! A few projects in the piles are using up fabric I've had for far too long which is always a great thing.
We had a good weekend with my parents, although exhausting! On Saturday my Mother and I went to the Southport Flower Show and walked and walked and walked. It's a really nice show, not too huge (we got there at about 11 and left at around 5 and we saw everything there was to see). Last year we went to Tatton Park which is the RHS flower show and we didn't think it was as good as Southport so we didn't bother this year. We went out for a lovely Chinese meal that night in a restaurant I've wondered about since we moved here 5 years ago, hopefully we will get to go back as even DH who isn't a big Chinese food fan enjoyed the meal.
Sunday we took the dogs for a long walk on the beach (my parents have a Gordon Setter who we met for the first time this weekend and a Black Lab, both of whom get along great with Molly thank goodness!) at Formby Point and also in the woods where we saw far more red squirrels than we've ever seen there before. We had a relaxing afternoon at home and then I made chilli, cornbread and rice for dinner, Mum gave Little One a bath and put him to bed and then they went home. Fun had by all! They are back in 2 weeks time along with the rest of the family for my Father's 60th Birthday bash, hopefully that will be a good weekend too.
Thank you to everyone who left a comment telling me who they were, I've checked out all your blogs now and seen some great stuff, it was really fun and interesting to see what you are all up to! I still am missing comments from about two thirds of the people who have me on their Bloglines but there you go, I know I don't always answer calls to de-lurk so I guess I'm not alone in that! If you think you missed the great reveal you didn't, you can still leave a comment and I'll really appreciate it, thanks again everyone!
